Can the interviewer see Phantum on screen share in Zoom, Teams or Google Meet?
No. Windows leaves the strip out of every screen share, recording and screenshot, whether you share one window, a browser tab or your whole screen, in any call app. It cannot hide from a camera pointed at your screen, and some proctoring or test apps can see which programs are running.

How it works
Phantum asks the operating system to exclude its window from screen capture. Zoom, Teams, Meet and every recorder capture the screen through the operating system, so the strip is missing from what they capture while you still see it on your monitor. This works on Windows 10 version 2004 and later and on Windows 11.
Nothing joins the call. Phantum hears the interviewer through your speakers, so there is no bot in the meeting and no plugin in the call app.
Each way of sharing
- Sharing one window: only that window is shared, and the strip is never part of it.
- Sharing the entire screen: the screen is shared, but the strip is cut out of it.
- Presenting a browser tab in Google Meet: only the tab is shared.
- Cloud and local recordings, and screenshots: the strip is not in them either.
The mouse pointer
A shared screen shows your mouse pointer, so a pointer hovering over empty space could look odd. By default, while the pointer is over the strip, Phantum hides the system pointer from capture and draws its own inside the strip, which you see and the share does not.
Check it before a call
- Start a session so the strip is on screen.
- Start a meeting with yourself in Zoom, Teams or Meet and share your entire screen.
- Look at the preview, or join from your phone: the strip is not there.
When the strip is visible
Screen-share hiding is on by default. If you switch it off in the account menu, the strip's frame turns orange and shows Visible on share, so you always know. One click on that label hides it again.
What it cannot hide from
- A camera pointed at your screen, including a phone.
- Proctoring software and lockdown browsers, which some coding tests and exams ask you to install. They can list the programs running on your computer, and some close them.
- Your eyes. Reading looks like reading. The strip sits under the webcam so your gaze stays close to the camera.
Check the rules
Some employers and test platforms do not allow live AI help during interviews. Read the rules you were sent and follow them. Phantum is also useful in practice rounds, mock interviews and calls where help is allowed.
