The first-run tour

The first time you sign in, a short tour runs. It takes about a minute and you can skip it.

  1. Test your microphone: speak and watch the level move. Pick a different microphone here if the wrong one is selected.
  2. Test interviewer audio: Phantum plays a sample through your speakers and checks it can hear it.
  3. How Phantum works: what the strip shows and when to press Get answer.
  4. Shortcuts: try the keys once so they are in your fingers before a real call.

Set up a session

  1. Press Start session.
  2. Pick or upload your résumé as a PDF. Answers draw on it, so the more it says, the better they get.
  3. Add the company name and paste or upload the job description.
  4. Choose the kind of interview: General, Behavioral, Coding / DSA, System Design, Product Management or Recruiter Screen.
  5. Optional: Add stories & files lets you write notes, such as stories you want to tell, and add up to three documents.
  6. Press Start interview.

Before the call

  • Join the call first, then start the session, so Phantum hears the interviewer from the first word.
  • Easy English and the screen-share switch are in the account menu on the Setup screen. Set them before the call.
  • Your first 15 minutes are free, so a practice round with a friend costs nothing.
